The Building and Construction Trades Council of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties has endorsed the following candidates for 2024:

Community Workforce Agreements (CWA’s)

Community Workforce Agreements (CWAs) are pre-hire collective bargaining agreements that establish the terms and conditions of employment for specific construction projects. CWAs ensure that projects are completed efficiently and safely. Our council is committed to CWA’s with language designating local hire, providing good jobs for local workers. They help standardize wages, benefits, and working conditions, preventing labor disputes and delays.

Prevailing Wage

Ensuring that construction workers earn a wage that prevails in the local area is a way to promote local hiring over bringing in low-wage out-of-staters. Although the Building Trades got the prevailing wage inserted into the California constitution, localities look for ways around it on an on-going basis. See studies, videos, and news about the fight to keep the prevailing wage.

California Approved Apprenticeship Programs

Our apprenticeship programs provide rigorous training and education for those entering the skilled trades. These programs combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction, ensuring that apprentices develop the skills needed to succeed in their chosen fields. By investing in apprenticeship programs, we help build a highly skilled workforce that is essential for the future of our industry. Click here to learn more about apprenticeship programs.
